Espresso Machine Maintenance Berlin & Brandenburg

Annual inspection, gaskets, descaling, calibrated pressure tests — so the machine keeps running for ten years.

Espresso Machine Maintenance Berlin — Prevention, Not Repair

A well-maintained espresso machine runs for 15 years and pulls the same shot every day. A neglected one suddenly loses pressure after three years, chews through brew head gaskets every six months, and ends up on the workbench anyway — just with consequential damage by then. Maintenance is the difference between "the machine runs" and "the machine actually runs right."

We service home and commercial machines from Berlin and Brandenburg. What's always part of the core job: descaling all water-carrying parts, a visual and function check of the brew group, replacing wear parts (gaskets, screens, filters), calibrating brew and steam pressure on a certified gauge. What gets added on top depends on the machine type and its maintenance history.

What annual maintenance covers

  • Descaling boiler, heat exchanger, lines — descaler per the manufacturer's spec
  • Brew head gasket replaced, shower screen checked or replaced
  • Gaskets on solenoid valves, steam valve, water valve
  • Brew group overhaul on E61 groups: control stem, gaskets, thermal paste
  • Pressure test on a calibrated gauge — brew pressure 9 bar, steam pressure per machine spec
  • Water tank filter checked, water treatment recommended if needed
  • Visual check of hoses, cables, connectors
  • Function report digital, emailed to you

For commercial machines, we add: brew group replacement on a 2-year cycle (La Marzocco, Cimbali, Faema), boiler safety valve check, safety thermostat test, and a visual check of copper lines for corrosion.

Maintenance Intervals by Use

Use Recommended maintenance Typical machines
Home, 1–3 espressos/day every 18 months Rocket Appartamento, ECM Classika, Lelit Mara
Home, 5–15 espressos/day annually ECM Synchronika, Profitec Pro 700, La Marzocco Linea Mini
Commercial, up to 30 kg/month every 6 months La Cimbali M26, Nuova Simonelli Appia
Commercial, 30+ kg/month quarterly La Marzocco Linea PB, Cimbali M100, Faema E71

Water hardness is the second factor. In Berlin, hardness ranges from 14 to 24 °dH depending on the district — that's hard to very hard. Without a softener, a full descaling every 12 months is mandatory; with one, the interval can stretch to 18 to 24 months.

How the Maintenance Process Works

  1. Request with model, year of manufacture, and last service date — if unknown, that's fine.
  2. Drop-off at the Oranienburg workshop, or pickup in Berlin and the surrounding area.
  3. Inspection with a findings list. What's due, what still has life left.
  4. Cost estimate if additional repairs are needed beyond the standard maintenance.
  5. Service completed in 2 to 5 business days, depending on workload and parts availability.
  6. Return with a maintenance report and a recommendation for the next appointment.

If you service regularly, you know the drill: we keep a service history on file for every machine. At the next appointment, we know what was done last time, what's coming due, and can estimate the work before the machine is even up on the bench.

Maintenance Contracts for Commercial Kitchens in Berlin/Brandenburg

For cafés, restaurants, and bars in Berlin and Brandenburg, we offer fixed maintenance schedules booked in advance. Concretely: an on-site inspection or workshop visit every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on the number of machines and throughput. Example clients: a restaurant with two Cimbali M26s, a café with a La Marzocco Linea Mini, an ice cream chain with three locations — every setup gets its own plan.

What you get: predictable costs instead of an emergency-repair shock, guaranteed appointment slots (even during peak times), priority on emergency service, and documented maintenance history for insurance and lease handovers.

What We Don't Do As Part of Maintenance

  • No maintenance on super-automatic machines (Jura, DeLonghi, Saeco, Krups) — wrong category
  • No quick "weekend-only descaling" — proper maintenance takes 2 to 4 hours of workshop time; rushing it doesn't make it better
  • No maintenance contract without an initial inspection — we need to know the machine first before committing to flat-rate pricing
  • No "let's just replace everything" mentality — if a part still has life left in it, it stays in and you save money

FAQ

Common questions.
Honest answers.

Question not covered? Call us: 030 75 43 73 44

How often should I get my espresso machine serviced?
For home machines, every 12 to 18 months, depending on water hardness and use. Commercial machines need inspection every 6 to 12 months, quarterly if throughput is high. Regular maintenance ends up costing less overall than waiting for a breakdown and then needing an emergency repair.
What does a standard maintenance service cost?
Single-boiler machines from 120 euros, heat exchanger (HX) machines from 180 euros, dual-boiler machines from 220 euros — each including descaling, brew head gasket, shower screen, and function test. Wear parts that need replacing on top of that are billed for materials. You get a cost estimate before we start work.
Do I need a maintenance contract for my café?
For commercial operations we recommend a fixed maintenance schedule booked in advance. That reduces the risk of downtime and makes maintenance costs predictable. Terms depend on the number of machines and location — we work those out individually, there's no standard contract.
Do you pick up the machine, or do I have to bring it in?
Both work. In Berlin and the surrounding area we pick up for a flat fee and bring the machine back after maintenance. In Oranienburg, Hennigsdorf, Velten, or Birkenwerder, dropping it off at the workshop is usually faster. Arrange the appointment in advance so there's no idle day in between.
What's included in a 'full inspection'?
Brew group overhaul (on E61 groups: control stem, gaskets, thermal paste), complete descaling of boilers and lines, replacement of all gaskets, calibration of brew and steam pressure, function test with a written report. Solenoid valve service and pump check if needed. Usual time frame: 2 to 4 hours of workshop time.
Is maintenance still worth it on an old machine?
On premium machines (La Marzocco, ECM, Rocket, Profitec), absolutely — with proper maintenance they still run like new after 15 years. On cheap entry-level machines under 400 euros new, honestly, rarely. Send us the nameplate and year of manufacture and we'll tell you straight whether maintenance is worth it or a new machine makes more sense.
