La Marzocco Linea Mini — workshop review
5 years, 87 units serviced. Where does the Linea Mini shine — and where does it fall short?
The Linea Mini has been the home icon since 2015. We've had 87 on the bench in 5 years. Here's our honest workshop take.
What we love
Dual boilers, 9 bar always, group head like the little sister of the Linea Classic. PID temperature stability to 0.5°C. Commercial engineering in a home package.
Where it weakens
Gaskets last ca. 18 months of heavy use. Capacitive water-level sensor is scale-prone. Hard water (Berlin: 16°dH) means descaling every 6 months — otherwise boiler issues in 3-4 years.
Most common repair
Group gaskets (€89), pressure regulator membrane (€135), boiler descaling (€70). Rarely: heating element after 5-7 years.
Verdict
A Linea Mini is an €8000 investment for 15+ years of espresso. With regular service (every 18 months, €89-159) it's unbreakable. Without service — sadly just another machine.
