Nuova Simonelli Repair and Service in Berlin and Brandenburg

Aurelia Wave, Appia Life, Musica, Talento, Oscar — Nuova Simonelli is the official WBC machine and the workhorse in tens of thousands of cafés. We maintain and repair the whole range with genuine parts.

Models we maintain and repair

Nuova Simonelli has been building machines in Belforte del Chienti, in Italy's Marche region, since 1936. One of the biggest Italian espresso machine brands, focused on the professional volume market with a clear proposition: affordable, robust machines for every type of café, from bistro to hotel. The Aurelia has been the official machine of the World Barista Championship since 2010 — that's more than a marketing badge, it tells you something about the factory standard.

Aurelia Wave is the bread-and-butter machine in the current lineup. 2-group or 3-group, classic layout with a steam boiler and heat exchangers per group, programmable volumetrics, straightforward controls. Mechanically direct and pleasant to service.

Aurelia Wave T3 is the premium variant with three independent brew temperatures per group. Considerably more complex electronics, but in a café setup with different beans it's a tool baristas can actually work with.

Appia Life is the Aurelia's smaller sister. Compact, Standard and XT sizes, similar concept but cheaper to buy and a bit simpler to operate. Very common in Berlin bistros and mid-sized cafés.

Musica is the home machine — single-boiler PID with heat exchanger options, compact build, vibration pump instead of rotary. Service logic closer to a Lelit MaraX than to an Aurelia.

Oscar II is the other home variant — more rugged than the Musica, with its own heritage in the Nuova Simonelli family, sometimes run as a "small commercial" machine in offices or small bars.

Mac 2000 and Prontobar round out the range — the Mac 2000 as a vintage platform, the Prontobar as a hybrid concept.

Talento is the super-automatic with a built-in grinder. We don't touch the Talento — fully automatic machines are not our business.

Typical problems and how we fix them

Aurelia Wave, one group builds no pressure. A café-floor classic. First diagnosis: the solenoid valve on the affected group — Parker or OLAB depending on build year, swap takes 30-45 minutes, part under 100 euros. If the solenoid checks out, we move on to the Procon rotary pump. A pump swap including adjustment runs 2-3 hours plus the part; in a working café it's usually done the same day when we roll up with the van and spares.

Appia Life, water under the machine. The most common service call on the Appia after 3-5 years without maintenance. Heat exchanger gasket at the boiler or a dripping level solenoid valve. Diagnosis by visual and pressure test; both components have standard replacements, swapped in 60-90 minutes depending on findings.

Aurelia T3, display shows an error on one group. The T3 has its own sensors per group — temperature sensor (PT100) and level logic. If one group throws an error, it's usually the PT100 sensor, scaled up or drifting after years of café duty. Sensor out, citric acid bath, back in clean, measure the reading. If the sensor keeps drifting: replacement. T3 service takes an understanding of the multi-PID logic — standard repair shops without T3 experience can burn hours here. We know the platform.

Musica, pump hums but no pressure. Home machine with an Ulka vibration pump. Either the pump is done, or the water tank sensor is defective (machine thinks the tank is empty even when it's full). Diagnosis is quick, pump swap in the workshop takes 60-75 minutes plus the part.

Appia, steam valve whistles. Steam valve gasket set worn out or the tip scaled up. We pull the tip, citric acid bath, replace the gasket set while we're at it. 45 minutes on site.

Genuine parts from Belforte

We source Nuova Simonelli spare parts through the authorized distributor and in some cases directly from the factory in Belforte del Chienti. Solenoid valves (Parker or OLAB depending on model), Procon rotary pumps, heating elements, level probes, group gaskets, safety valves, control boards for the Aurelia T3 — all genuine.

The Aurelia is the WBC machine — we don't put aftermarket components in one. A 30-euro China pump in a 12,000-euro machine isn't "cheap", it's sabotage. Same policy on Appia and Musica: genuine only.

We keep group gaskets for Aurelia and Appia in stock, because those are the most common maintenance parts. Standard solenoid valve kits too. Procon pumps come through the distributor with 1-2 days lead time.

WBC machine — what that means

The Aurelia has been the official machine of the World Barista Championship since 2010. What that says about factory standards: reliable enough for competition conditions, precise sensors, serviceable anywhere in the world. For our service in Berlin and Brandenburg it means a platform we know inside out, with dependable parts supply through the distributor. The Aurelia is about as uncomplicated to service as a professional platform gets.

Café emergency service — the main discipline

Aurelia and Appia machines sit in tens of thousands of cafés across Berlin and Brandenburg. When one of them dies at lunchtime, every hour costs revenue. We run a 24/7 emergency service:

  • Berlin call-outs usually fast with a confirmed emergency appointment
  • Brandenburg call-outs 4-6 hours depending on location
  • We carry Aurelia/Appia spares in the van: solenoid valves, gasket kits, level probes, heating elements, OPV components
  • Standard faults fixed on the spot in the 70-80 percent range
  • Unusual cases get a diagnostic visit and a follow-up once the part arrives
  • Loaner machine for longer repairs, depending on stock

Call-out flat rate plus hourly rate, weekend surcharge on emergency jobs. No fantasy prices we correct later — the estimate is always transparent up front, or right after on-site diagnosis.

On site or in the workshop

Aurelia and Appia in a working café: on site, always. These machines are plumbed in, heavy (70-120 kg) and built in deep. Pulling one out makes no sense except for a full overhaul or paint damage.

Musica and Oscar II: workshop, after pickup. Home machines are easier to service properly on our bench — pressure test rig, tools, decent light.

Aurelia T3 with a bigger overhaul due: depends on findings. Smaller faults (sensor error on one group) can be fixed on site; a full overhaul (all solenoid valves, pump, complete sensors, gasket kits) is a workshop job with a loaner machine option.

What we don't do

Talento or other super-automatic models. Fully automatic machines are not our business. If you want a Talento repaired, we'll point you to a super-automatic service.

Aftermarket pumps or grey-market solenoid valves in an Aurelia or Appia. Genuine or nothing — period.

Custom firmware on the Aurelia T3. Nuova Simonelli ships official firmware updates through the distributor. Third-party software kills the warranty and can disable safety circuits.

Repairs on counterfeit machines. There are the occasional China clones that look close to an Aurelia — if you bring one in, you'll get a straight answer, not an invoice.

Prices and flat rates

  • Maintenance Aurelia Wave 2G: flat rate, standard materials included
  • Maintenance Aurelia Wave 3G: correspondingly higher
  • Maintenance Aurelia T3: flat rate plus T3-specific sensor adjustment
  • Maintenance Appia Life Compact / Standard / XT: flat rate by size
  • Maintenance Musica / Oscar II: home machine flat rate
  • Procon pump swap: mid three-figure range including adjustment
  • Emergency call-out Berlin: flat rate, Brandenburg plus mileage

Hourly rate from 99 euros net, small weekend surcharge on emergency jobs. Exact figures by model and scope in the estimate — or right after diagnosis on site.

We repair all portafilter machines

Nuova Simonelli is one of the commercial brands we have on the bench or in the van every day — alongside La Marzocco, La Cimbali, Faema and Victoria Arduino. We repair all portafilter machines, Nuova Simonelli fully included: Aurelia, Appia, Musica and Oscar II. Talento and fully automatic machines are not our business.

Enquiry

Send us the model (Aurelia Wave / T3 / Appia Life / Musica / Oscar II), the configuration (number of groups on commercial models), build year if known, and a short description of the symptom. A photo of the type plate plus one of the machine helps a lot with the initial assessment. For emergencies: location and phone number, and we'll call you right back.

FAQ

Common questions.
Honest answers.

Question not covered? Call us: 030 75 43 73 44

Do you run 24/7 emergency service for Aurelia or Appia in a working café?
Yes, that's standard for us. Aurelia Wave and Appia Life are the machines most Berlin cafés actually work on — a breakdown at lunchtime kills revenue. We come with spare parts, diagnosis takes 20-40 minutes, and in 70-80 percent of cases the problem is fixed the same day. If a control board is dead, the replacement has to come through the distributor — then it's a second visit or a loaner machine, depending on stock.
Do you source genuine Nuova Simonelli parts?
Through the authorized distributor in Germany and in some cases directly from Belforte. Solenoid valves, Procon rotary pumps, heating elements, level probes, safety valves, group gaskets, control boards for the Aurelia T3 — all genuine. The Aurelia is the official WBC machine; we don't put aftermarket components in one of those, that would be negligent.
What's the difference between the Aurelia Wave and the Aurelia Wave T3?
The Aurelia Wave is the standard platform; the Aurelia Wave T3 is the version with three independent brew temperatures per group (T3 = Temperature 3). Mechanically the same base, electronically far more complex — each group has its own PID control, its own sensors, its own solenoid valves. Maintenance takes longer on a T3, but in a café setup running different beans it's unbeatable.
Do you also repair the Talento or other super-automatic models?
No. The Talento is Nuova Simonelli's super-automatic with a built-in grinder — that's fully-automatic territory and not our business. We specialize exclusively in portafilter machines and grinders. If you want a Talento repaired, we'll point you to a super-automatic service.
Do you also service the home machines Musica and Oscar II?
Yes. Musica and Oscar II are Nuova Simonelli's home models — a much smaller platform than the Aurelia, but similar service logic. Ulka vibration pump instead of a rotary pump, smaller boilers, simpler electronics. Serviced in our workshop, with pickup in Berlin / Brandenburg.
What does an Aurelia service cost in a working café?
Standard annual maintenance for an Aurelia Wave 2-group is a fixed flat rate, including group gaskets, basket, shower screen, steam tip check, visual solenoid valve inspection, heat exchanger descaling if needed, plus pressure and temperature adjustment. 3-group correspondingly higher. If a pump swap or control board is due, that's quoted separately. Hourly rate from 99 euros net. Emergency call-out fee extra.
How fast can you be on site when an Aurelia goes down?
In Berlin, fast with a confirmed emergency appointment. In Brandenburg 4-6 hours depending on location. We carry the common Aurelia and Appia spares in the van — solenoid valves, gasket kits, level probes, heating elements — so standard faults can be repaired on the spot. In unusual cases the first step is a diagnostic visit, with the repair done the next day once the part is sourced.
