Lelit Espresso Machine Repair and Service

Bianca, Elizabeth, MaraX, Anna — Lelit is the fastest-growing prosumer brand in Berlin. We service and repair the entire range with genuine parts.

Models we service and repair

Lelit has been building machines since 1973 in Castegnato near Brescia, northern Italy. For a long time the brand flew under the radar, then grew explosively over the last ten years — today it's one of the three leading prosumer brands in Berlin and Germany. We have the entire range on the bench regularly.

Bianca is the flagship. Dual boiler with E61 group, manual pre-infusion via the famous paddle (V1, V2), plus electronic pressure profiling on the V3. Visually distinctive thanks to the wooden side panels. Mechanically an E61 classic; electronically anywhere from simple (V1) to complex (V3 with touch display and Gicar controller), depending on the generation.

Elizabeth is the classic dual boiler sister without the paddle. PL92T. PID on both boilers, E61, straightforward controls. For people who don't need the Bianca looks and want to keep things simple. A pleasant machine to service.

MaraX is the brand's specialty bargain. A single boiler with heat exchanger, but the clever temperature logic switches between brew and steam mode automatically. Effectively "half a dual boiler" at HX money. PL62X. Servicing it takes an understanding of the logic — standard repair shops without Lelit experience are often puzzled by its behavior.

Anna comes in TEM (thermoblock), LEM (boiler) and LEMD (PID boiler) variants. Entry-level single boiler class, compact, for one or two people at home. Minimal maintenance effort because there's little inside.

Diana and Grace are the middle class — heat exchanger with PID, E61. Solid construction without the Bianca complexity.

Victoria is the Anna's big sister with dual boiler and PID. Rare in Berlin, but usually well looked after when we see one.

Typical problems and how we fix them

Bianca V1/V2, paddle sticks or pre-infusion runs rough. The most common Bianca job. Manual pre-infusion runs through a bypass mechanism with the paddle, a spring and a ball valve. After three to five years the gaskets go porous, the ball valve sticks, or the bypass pressure is off. We strip the paddle mechanism, replace gaskets and springs, check the upstream solenoid valve and set the bypass pressure back to factory spec. About 90 minutes in the workshop.

MaraX, machine switches between modes erratically or hangs at one temperature. The MaraX logic relies on a PT100 temperature sensor in the boiler — once the sensor scales up, the machine sees wrong values and the automatic switching stops working properly. Sensor out, into citric acid, back in clean, done. If the sensor keeps drifting: replacement. If there's reasonable doubt: we check the firmware version — Lelit ships regular updates through the LCC app.

Elizabeth or Bianca, E61 drips after the shot. Classic E61 issue, affects every machine with this group. Lower group gasket at the end of its life. Replacement including inspection of the 3-way solenoid valve, about 75 minutes. While we're in there, we always do the upper gasket at the disperser as well.

Anna LEM, steam not getting hot enough. Heating element or pressurestat. A dead heating element shows up on the resistance meter — if the reading is off, the culprit is clear. Replacing a heating element on the Anna is workshop work; the boiler has to come out. A pressurestat adjustment can sometimes be done on site.

Bianca V3, display shows an error code or responds sluggishly. The V3 is where things get electronics-heavy. Firmware version first, then the sensors (pressure sensor at the group, level probe, temperature sensors), then the Gicar main board. The repair takes longer than on a V1/V2 because more components are under suspicion — but it's fixable.

Genuine parts from Castegnato

We source Lelit spare parts through the authorized distributor in Germany and, in some cases, directly from the factory in Castegnato. Pumps (Ulka EX5 or EP5 depending on the model), heating elements, solenoid valves, pressure sensors, control boards, display modules for the Bianca line, Gicar modules — all genuine.

For standard E61 parts (group gaskets, springs, cam pins) we draw on the general E61 universe. These parts have been standardized since the 1960s and often come from the same Italian suppliers.

What we never do: aftermarket pumps or gray-market control boards for a Bianca V3. Genuine or not at all.

On site or in the workshop

Most Lelit machines live in private kitchens. So the standard is pickup — we collect in Berlin or Brandenburg, do the work in our workshop in Oranienburg, and bring the machine back. The upside: pressure test bench, proper light, all the E61 special tools, and a clean floor for stripping the Bianca's paddle mechanism.

We do on-site service when the diagnosis is clear and the effort manageable — smaller gasket or solenoid valve faults are done on site in 90 minutes. We tell you straight what's worth it.

Prices and flat rates

  • Service Bianca / Elizabeth: flat rate, standard parts included
  • Service MaraX / Grace / Diana: flat rate, slightly lower because there's less E61 work
  • Service Anna: small flat rate, very manageable scope
  • Ulka pump replacement: low three-figure range
  • Control board replacement Bianca V3: flat rate plus the genuine board
  • Pickup Berlin / Brandenburg: flat rate by postcode

Hourly rate from 99 euros net, small weekend surcharge. Exact figures per model and scope in the quote.

What we don't do

We don't build unofficial pressure profiling mods into a Bianca V1 or V2 — the design doesn't allow for it and it leads to consequential damage. If you want pressure profiles, buy a V3.

We don't flash custom firmware onto Bianca V3 machines. Lelit ships official updates through the LCC app, and that's enough.

We don't repair visually identical Lelit clones from dubious sources. These machines do turn up occasionally — bring one in and you'll get an honest answer, not an invoice.

We repair all espresso machines

Lelit is one of the three most important brands in our workshop — alongside La Marzocco on the commercial side and ECM/Profitec in the home segment. We repair all portafilter espresso machines, Lelit fully included across all models and generations. Bean-to-cup fully automatics and capsule machines are not our business.

What does a Bianca service cost?
A full service on a Bianca takes around two hours and runs as a fixed flat rate, including E61 group gaskets, basket, shower screen, pump damper check. What's in it: stripping and cleaning the E61 head, checking the paddle mechanism, adjusting pressure and temperature, descaling if needed, visual check of the level probe. Pump replacement or a control board is extra, quoted first.
Do you also repair the newer Bianca V3 with the touch display?
Yes, regularly. The V3 has the same mechanics as the V1 and V2, but more complex electronics with a Gicar controller. With display faults we check the firmware version first — Lelit ships updates through the LCC app, and some problems disappear with them. If not, it's the sensors or the board.
MaraX vs Elizabeth — which is easier to service?
The Elizabeth is far more relaxed to service. Dual boiler, classic layout, E61 group, everything easy to reach. The MaraX has the clever temperature logic (shifts automatically between brew and steam mode), which makes it a great home machine — but servicing it means understanding that logic. Standard repair shops without Lelit experience are often left guessing here. We aren't.
Do you source genuine Lelit parts directly?
We buy through the authorized Lelit distributor for Germany and directly from Lelit in Brescia. Ulka pumps, heating elements, solenoid valves, pressure sensors, control boards, display modules — all genuine. For standard E61 parts (group gaskets, springs) we're flexible, because the platform has been standardized for 60 years.
Is repairing a Lelit Anna worth it, or better to upgrade?
The Anna is the entry-level single boiler machine. If the heating element is gone and the pump is three years old, repairing an Anna PL41TEM (around 600-800 EUR new) only makes limited sense — a full overhaul quickly runs 250-400 EUR. On an Anna LEM or LEMD (PID, already four figures) a repair pays off for longer. We tell you straight what makes sense.
The Bianca paddle isn't working smoothly anymore — what now?
A classic Bianca issue. The paddle mechanism controls manual pre-infusion through an adjustable bypass — one of the Bianca's strengths, but also a wear point. We check the mechanics first (ball valve, spring), then the upstream solenoid valve. On the V3 there's also the electronic pressure profiling — sensor and Gicar module have to be spot on. Repairing this in the workshop on the pressure test bench is cleaner than doing it on site.
How often should I have my Lelit serviced?
With Berlin water (medium-hard to hard) and 2-3 espressos a day: every 18-24 months. With a daily espresso routine, milk steaming and no water softener: annually. Lelit machines are robust, but hard water is their main enemy — a MaraX that gets descaled regularly lasts 15+ years. A MaraX without maintenance manages 5.
